Premenstrual Tension

What is Premenstrual Tension?

PMS refers to emotional and physical symptoms that occur in the weeks prior to a woman’s period.

Symptoms vary among women and generally revolve around the week of the period. Changes in hormone levels during the cycle are the important factor in the cause. Stress and emotional problems including depression do not cause symptoms to worsen. Typical signs include acne, tender breasts, feeling tired, irritability, aching muscles, disrupted sleep and bloating.
