What is Sciatica?
Sciatica is any sort of pain caused by compression or irritation of the Sciatic nerve. This nerve is the longest in the body running from the pelvis, buttocks and down both legs to the feet.
Common causes include irritation of the lower lumbar and lumbosacral spine, and degenerative disc disease (the breakdown of discs). Symptoms vary but the most common are constant pain down one side of the lower body, stiffness in the joints, lower back pain and a tingling sensation down the leg.
