Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is a gentle way of working with the body using light touch. A practitioner will place their hands gently upon you to listen to your body. They do this similarly to a person using their ears to listen to spoken word. Your body responds by beginning to listen to itself. Often people comment that they feel they have been truly heard during and after sessions.

Although it is called Craniosacral Therapy, the cranial part does not only refer to the head. This treatment works with the whole being of a person. Changes may occur in the body, mind and spirit during and after sessions.

Who is it suitable for?

Due to it’s gentle and completely non-invasive nature, Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly. Women during pregnancy and mothers and their babies especially after a traumatic birth use this therapy to let go of tensions and fear. Being able to release the negativity and settle into calmness allows for level development. Older individuals use cranial therapy as a gentle way of relaxing and healing.

The therapy supports the bodies ability to balance and restore itself. It reduces stress and builds your underlying energy. Practitioners sense tensions in the body and release them in supported and comfortable ways. During and after sessions you may feel energised with increased clarity of mind and wellbeing.

Sessions

During your first session, the practitioner will note your history and listen to the reasons for your appointment. This part of the induction is important both for understanding your needs and establishing rapport. During the session, you remain clothed and will either lie or sit. The practitioner will make light contact with your head, spine and other areas of your body encouraging relaxation. As the body functions as a whole, the practitioner may work on more than one area.
